UPyD reiterates the need to strengthen the penalties for animal abandonment and abuse in Murcia

The UPyD party has highlighted during the first half of August the need “to strengthen immediately the penalties for animal abandonment and abuse”, after SEPRONA [Service for the Protection of Nature] located thirty nine malnourished horses in Mula (Region of Murcia).

The Plenary Session of the City Government of Murcia three years ago unanimously approved an initiative presented by UPyD which requested the Community to modify the prevailing Law of Animal Protection, which entered into force in 1990 and according to the initiative “is completely outdated”. Currently the measures of the modification to the regulation have not been carried out.
