SUMMARY:

In this judgment, a Court of Administrative Litigation of Madrid estimates the demand of some residents involved in the care and attention of a controlled colony of feral cats, and who were punished for it by the town council. The sentence, a pioneer in its field, states that animals belonging to the colony cannot be considered as private property of those people who cared and fed them, and that public administration must reimburse the amount of the sanctions and assume the costs of the judicial process.

This comment was made in collaboration with Arancha Sanz de Madrid, advocate of the plaintiff.
