ABSTRACT

In this document Ms. Honjo analyses the strategies employed by an animal rights NGO to attempt to close a mink fur farm in the Otsuka province of Japan. Activists have noted that the farm may be in violation of the Invasive Species Act as well as the Animal Welfare Act. However, the author points to gaps in legislation and enforcement within these acts which means that the fate of the fur farm is still uncertain.
