Costa Rica prohibits and criminally punishes dog fights

The Congress of Costa Rica has ratified the first legislation against dog fights in the country. As a result of this regulation, drafted with the collaboration of the Humane Society International-Latinoamérica and the Servicio Nacional de Salud Animal (National Service of Animal Health, SENASA) of Costa Rica, dog Rights are a crime in this country, for which they establish stronger economic fines and even prison time as sentences. As such, the creation and purchase of tools used in these practices are also prohibited, and the creation of a list of perpetrators is considered.
