ABSTRACT

The Italian Animal Protection laws can serve as the mirror which all the Spanish Autonomous Communities could look into due to the geographic, economic and cultural similarities that unite the two countries. In this article, in addition to providing a brief summary of Italian history regarding national laws on animal abuse, we collect the testimony by a world renowned expert in feline etiology: Dr. Eugenia Natoli, who works for the Municipal Government for the City of Rome. As the laws influence the form in which people think and as social progress pushes legislators to adopt reforms, one can find a valued response in the words of Dr. Natoli.
