TITLE: Commentary on the ban on using animals in lotteries or as publicity prizes in the laws of animal protection

PLACE OF PUBLICATION: dA webCenter
DATE OF PUBLICATION: April 2014.

SUMMARY:

Most laws on animal protection in Spain prohibit the donation of animals as lottery or publicity prizes, while the purchase or even their use, for example, in spectacles where they suffer is perfectly legal. The author analyzes this contradiction and its direct relationship with the existence of an underlying legal recognition that animals, in reality, are not things and should not be treated as such.
