Prosecutor requests two years in prison for two men suspected of killing a brown bear

The events occurred in August 2012, when a 108 kilo bear, between four and five years old, was found in Porley with the front left leg ensnared on a steel cord hanging from a Cytisus. The bear died during the rescue attempts, due to an infection caused by the trap.
The Prosecutor for the Environment in Asturias will request two years in prison for the two accused suspects for the death of the animal, the maximum sentence established in the Criminal Code, understanding that the acts were committed in a fully voluntary manner. The trial will take place in 2014, on a date to be confirmed.
