Prosecutor requests eleven months imprisonment for drowning a dog to death

In March 2013 the accused brought his dog to a subterranean cave in Marismas de Isla Cristina (Huelva), tied the dog to a large rock that prevented it from moving and left the dog there so that it would drown when the tide came in. The prosecutor considers that the acts constitute the crime of animal abuse and requests eleven months in prison, three years special disqualification for the trade or business related with animal and a payment for costs.
The criminal report originated from a photograph that circulated through a social network which SEPRONA [Service for the Protection of Nature] used to start the police investigation.
