ABSTRACT

The resolution from the State Advisory Council in France, as the author comments, deals with the appropriateness of the killing of sharks as a manner of preventing attacks on human beings on the French Island of Réunion. The State Advisory Council illustrates the serious doubt about the effectiveness of this action and considers that the only truly effective manner is to guarantee information to the population and tourists about the ban on entering the water and the risk which comes with non-compliance of this ban.
