Owner of an underground veterinary clinic arrested in Almería

The investigation began in 2012, due to a report made by a person who had travelled from Puerto Rico to Spain to adopt four greyhound dogs after contacting a veterinarian through a social network. In the report, the victim explained the unhealthy and ill state that the dogs presented, as well as signs of documentation manipulation.

In the police registry serious deficiencies in cleanliness and hygiene were detected and a dead puppy was found among vomit and feces. The Civil Guard seized expired medications, including some recalled by the Spanish Agency for Medicines, documents, passports and certificates with manipulated identification. The arrested person also lacked the correct authorizations and licenses to develop her activity.

The initial proceedings have been transferred to the District Court of Vera (Almería).
