A judge in Palma has imposed a stiff sentence of three months in jail on two shepherds from the island for the crime of mistreating domesticated animals after they brutally beat a dog with a stick, believing that the dog had attacked and killed more than 30 sheep they were guarding.

The judge magistrate of Penal 4 of Palma has also prohibited the two accused, aged 74 and 40, from the exercise of the shepherding trade for three months.
